Torque check mechanism used by the assembly line for data storage devices. The original one was cumbersome for the user with many steps to take. My mechanism reduced the number of steps an operator had to take, vastly increasing efficency.
Heat transfer problem for the spread of humidity inside night vision goggles. It was refreshing to go back and review some university material I hadn't used outside of class, and a lot of fun bouncing ideas off my mentor about possible solutions. I found that the humidity was spreading faster than expected in the NVGs, which prompted a change in shipping confirguation.
A statics problem that checked the torque on a screw under extreme loads. I found that the screw tensile strength was more than enough to handle the expected load, but my mentor said that in critical systems it is better to build in redundancy.
Engineering documentation to finalize the next steps in assembly line. I learned how to use a product data management service from Enovia, and how to read through specification sheets and assembly instructions to piece together the purpose of a part.
